There are very few moments in life when you regret saying ‘no’ to someone. Imagine, you rejected someone and later found out that that person has been elected mayor of New York City; about whom there is a lot of discussion on social media!
Ah, what a regret!
Recently, a post went viral on social media X, where a screenshot of a woman sharing a story on TikTok is shown.
Writing ‘Biggest mistake of the century’ in the caption, the woman said that a few years ago, she ‘matched’ with Zohraan Mamdani on the Hinge app in New York; but in the end, she rejected him.
The reason? ‘Because of his (Mamdani’s) height.’
The post reads, ‘His height was written on the app as 5 feet 11 inches or 5 feet 10 inches. At the time, I thought that meant he was probably 5 feet 9 inches. Now I understand, he was more honest than the other men on that app.’
As soon as this news spread, all kinds of funny reactions started happening all over X.
Many wrote that the woman had lost a golden opportunity in her life.
One user wrote, ‘I’m sure she cries every night thinking about this. I would have done the same.’
Another wrote, ‘Imagine losing the future mayor of New York because of her height!’
It is known that Mamdani is 5 feet 10 inches tall.
Interestingly, by a twist of fate, Zohran Mamdani met his wife Rama Duaji on the Hinge app in 2021. Mamdani’s rise in politics began then. So both of them kept their relationship a secret.
After dating for a while, Mamdani was sure that Ramai was his life partner. They got engaged in October 2024 and in December of the same year, their nikah and engagement party took place in a grand ceremony organized in front of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
They later married at the New York City Clerk’s Office earlier this year and celebrated their nuptials in Uganda.
Rama Duaji is a Syrian-American artist who stays out of the political spotlight. However, she was Mamdani’s traveling companion throughout the campaign in New York.
